Marae Recount

Saint Pius school had finally arrived at Ruapotaka Marae after a short walk from our school. We were welcomed in by a lady. Then when we were settled down the speeches started with the man who owned Ruapotaka Marae. Then the boys that were in the front row was doing the Hongi back to them(Getting back to them face to face).

After Morning tea, we were split and we started off with weaving inside the hall. We were shown how to weave our own flower, but I struggled at trying to turn it around so I could countie with weaving then Mrs. Puluto gave me a hand and finished it off for me. We moved onto our next thing and it was singing a song.

Then we got teached how to sing a Maori song. Once we got had learnt the song we sang beautiful like if we were performing to a  crowd of people. The song started of slowly then it got fast and faster. As it got faster some of us couldn’t keep up so they decided to not sing but still did the actions. It was a wonderful day and most of us were to tired.
